Updox includes a Print to Fax printer driver that lets you send a document as a fax directly from any program on your PC—whether you’re working inside eClinicalWorks, printing a PDF from a browser or sending a Word file. Once installed and configured, the printer appears in your Windows print list as Updox Fax. Choosing this printer opens the fax composer where you can quickly address and send the file. According to Updox, the fax driver allows you to fax documents from your electronic health record (EHR), a website or any other application.
Select the Updox Fax printer. From any application on your workstation (e.g., ECW, Word or your browser), choose Print and pick Updox Fax from the printer dropdown. This launches the Updox fax composer on your desktop.
Enter recipient information. In the fax composer, type the recipient fax number(s) or choose names from your Updox address book in the Send Fax To field. You can optionally include a cover sheet by checking the Include Cover Sheet box and selecting the style you prefe.
Send the fax. Once the details are complete, click Send Fax. A small progress window briefly appears while Updox processes the fax; if any issues occur, the window displays error details. Do not resend repeatedly—each send request enters the queue and will transmit in turn.
Verify delivery. To see the sent fax, log in to your Updox account and open the Sent folder. If the fax fails, re‑open the document and repeat the steps or contact IT support.
The Updox print driver turns any printable file into a fax, so you don’t need to download or convert files manually. Because it appears alongside your other printers, it’s easy to send patient forms or insurance documents directly from ECW, your PDF viewer or a web page. If you frequently fax documents, using the print driver is far quicker than uploading files manually and ensures they’re logged in your Updox account.
